Krowji Studio Award for Cornwall College Graduates

Last month we welcomed four new tenants to Krowji, who are the successful recipients of the 2016 Cornwall College Graduate Studio Award. The aim of the award is to encourage and promote multi-disciplinary and collaborative approaches and is open to Cornwall College BA Contemporary Creative Practice graduates with an interest in growing and testing their creative practice.

The 2016 Graduate Studio Award recipients are landscape painter Marcus Giles, mixed media artist Melanie Johns, photography and poetry artist Betty Davies/Betty in Motion and mixed media artist Vicki Aimers.

The annual Studio Award gives the four selected graduates the opportunity to work rent free for 12 months in a dedicated studio located in the Percy Williams Building at Krowji.  The Award has been carefully developed to provide a valuable and effective bridge between college and professional practice; graduates will receive continued professional development advice from tutors at Cornwall College and being based at Krowji will give them support from the other professional practitioners based there. The successful graduates have the opportunity to participate in Krowji’s monthly skillshare sessions, studio sessions and biannual Open Studios events. All four applicants will be taking part in Christmas Open Studios on 2nd – 4th December.

We are also very pleased to say that since the end of their residency year, two of the 2015 Residency Award recipients; textiles artist Bettina Holland and painter Joanne Reed, have decided to take own their own studio spaces here at Krowji in order to continue developing their practice.
