Agnieszka Niesluchowska

I was born in Poland and came to live in the UK in 2006. I graduated from the University of Plymouth in 2011 with a Foundation Degree in Contemporary Ceramic Practice. The same year I became a Krowji tenant and began my creative work as ceramic artist.

I make vessels, abstract forms and decorative wall art. My ceramics are hand built, usually constructed from slabs. I like them to be very organic with strongly textured matt surfaces that give a multi-dimensional effect.

It’s great fun to build my forms, the part I enjoy most is decorating them with slips, oxides, glazes and even river sand. I’m also exploring the idea of functional ceramics like traditional tea pots or cups but in my individual approach and concept. This gives them a non-functional character and bitter-sweet impression.

I have taken part in several Open Studios as well as shows and fairs across UK. I’m also running ceramics workshops from my studio at Krowji.
